Last time we went to Pescadero, we didn't stumble upon this pioneer cemetery until it was almost dark. So this time I made sure that we went over to check it out with enough daylight left to take photos. It's a fascinating place, with so many very old tombstones and grave markers, some of them tumbling down and crumbling, others in (strangely) almost perfect condition.

I love old cemeteries also! When we lived in Eudora, we used to walk a couple of blocks up the hill to one on the edge of town. It too yielded some very old tombstones. Even our children understood the reverence of the place although it's shady grassy areas were a wonderful playground. It's so interesting to stroll through and read the monuments. I'd challenge the four J's to find the oldest grave and they would!
